Sample - Busting the Myths of the Education System

This chapter is to open an exploration into the world of home schooling. Many Muslims home school for a variety of reasons and each family have their own style and reasons for doing so. Some believe the secular system is corrupted, while others find the benefits to home schooling far outweigh the traditional school as we know it. For whatever the reason families choose to keep their children at home, more around the globe are choosing this lifestyle. Typically a majority of these families come from a strong Christian, Muslim or moral family base.

Secular education options will not be raised in this chapter purely due to the fact that as the mainstream education selection it is widely published as the naturally correct choice for every parent to make. For many parents it may be the correct choice but it is not for everyone.

Home schooling has be ridiculed greatly by those who favour the secular system. The beliefs and opinions of many have been forced into the minds of the general population insinuating the home schooled children are some how disadvantaged. This assumption is limited by those who have little knowledge of home schooling and lack knowledge in the history of the schooling system. In refutation of these assumptions it is essential to start at the beginning.

Take a look at most of the white countries it becomes evident that education was evolved around social reform. The invaders implemented a system with intention of creating a population that relied solely on the influence of the governing bodies at work. Rebuke this dogmatic control and you will be either locked away or ostracised. John Taylor Gatto is famous for his works in unveiling the deception of the original schooling system of America. Some counties are still afraid of being incapable of curtailing views of parents that they outlaw Home Education and legislate its practices as extreme. Only recently one German family had its children ripped from there care and placed in foster care due to their decision to home school. So why is home schooling such a threat ?

The answer is simple. Anything that threatens or refuses to be desensitised to the values and morals of society are thought be of bad community examples. Care for the education needs of children has nothing to do with why the schooling system was structured. Lets take a short walk through the Australian educational institutes' history. Here it will be obvious as to the intentions of the governing bodies hidden agenda.

Australia was colonised by the English in the late 1700s, with the first penal colony constructed in NSW. The first government school was erected for children who were products of immoral convicts and were expected to be reformed through education and religious morals of the Church of England. Although the true agenda didn't become obvious until the mid 1800's when the movement of removing Aboriginal children from their homes was prevalent. Placing them in orphanages attached to the 'white schooling system' was believed to be superior and free to openly abused the rights of Aboriginals. As stated by Haebich, The only problem that stood in the way was the natural affection of the mothers. (Aborigines Department Annual Report 1902 quoted by Haebich 1988 on page 67). Even though the Aborigines had resided in Australia well before the invasion of the Europeans and had developed a rich educational basis, this was totally disregarded and they were subjected to cruel and demoralising taunts at the hands of the oppressors. The stolen generation was just that, stolen from families and forcibly bred with the whites in an attempt to bread out the dark colour of there skin. This extreme form of ignorance was applauded and no shame was felt on behalf of those who initiated these barbaric acts. Somehow it was thought to be in their best interest and the best interest of society.
